   * Thought about the author(s):  Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have done it again.  I love how there secondary                                                       characters can play such a significant roles and most of the time they are corky.                                                       I love this idea they had about the pen pals and the journey they took us on.

   * Main story: Luca and Griff  relationship starts out in a very innocent way.  In the second grade they are assigned to be
pen pals.  For their privacy they only know each others first name and a different last name than their own.                               Since Griff lives in England and Luca lives in the United States the idea of meeting one another is not an                                 option.  They decided even after the second grade ends they continue to be pen pals.  Over the years they                                 become close and share secrets with each other.

Unfortunately,  Luca goes through one tragedy after another and completely shuts down.                   She doesn't read or respond to any of Griffs letters and ghosts him.  Luca rarely leaves the                   house, she hates crowds, traffic, or enclosed spaces.  Her anxiety and fear has made her a                     reclusive and her only friend is her therapist.

When Griff need Luca the most she never responded to his letter.  He sent letter after                         letter with no response from her.  He is living a life of luxury and is more alone than ever.
One night years later he decides to write an f-u letter to Luca.  What he doesn't expect is a
response and where this might lead.

Luca and Griff carry on with writing letters back and forth to each other.  They are                             finding it exciting to learn all the tings they missed over the years.  Now, they are adults                       and friendly letters turn into dirty letters.  Even sending an enormous box of vibrating                           furby toys is part of the fun.  They agree with no pictures and no meeting in person.  But                     doesn't curiosity always win out?  Sometimes furby's are just not enough!!

My thoughts:

When I was in second grade I had a pen pal.  In my case it was not a boy or someone who grew up to be a fine male specimen.  Just my luck!!  No, my pen pal was a girl who happen to share the same name as me and she only lived an hour away.  The only things we talked about was our families, our love of all things Lisa Frank, and of course our American Doll Samantha.  I did actually get to meet her at the end of the school year.  Our class took a field trip to her school where we went to a park to play and we ate lunch.  Well, after the day I never heard from her and we never exchanged letters again.  While reading this book it made me think of her and what she did with her life.

The day's of pen pals are pretty much over.   I mean we have Face Time, Skype, Tango, Facebook video, etc.  Then again, text messaging can be the new pen pal, right?  We all use it to communicate with each other and some of us prefer to text message rather than have a phone conversation.  Especially, when its you parents/in-laws, the annoying friend, or even your partner.  You know what I am saying.

Instead of dirty letters we have dirty text messages or as people call it sexting.  The advantages of sexting is now we get immediate responses,  which is so much easier.  I mean there is no waiting for a response and comes in handy when your partner is away on business.  Plus it adds a little something, something to the relationship.  I would not advise anyone to use a furby.  We have come a long way in technology!! Just giving a little helpful advice that I might I know a little something about!! ðŸ˜‰

What do you think?

As always,

Shh!! Me Time!!
